I woke up last night with some interesting thoughts in my head.
We are all drawing lines in this multidimensional canvas called world. Some lines are strong, some are faint, some are dotted, some are straight, some curly. They come in all different colours some are even multicoloured.
You can look at this whole canvas of the world and it sometimes looks like a bit of a mess but then you can also zoom in and see all of these lines interacting with each other in the most extraordinary ways, creating beautiful shapes of meaning. Then other lines get inspired by those and creating different shapes that are inspiring others.
The lines change over time. At some point, they turn faint as if the pen is running out of ink. That’s ok because they are making space of new lines to continue adding colour to the picture of the world.
Every once in a while there is a splash of turpentine on the canvas. Once the lines cross it they thin out, change their shape, direction and colour and some even disappear. These splashes can look pretty ugly but they also help the lines come together and share some of their ink with others to stop the fading out. When you zoom out you see it created the most beautiful rainbow colours.
All of us and our lifelines are creating something exceedingly beautiful and then we realise that what we created is also creating us.
Make sure you look out for each other in these times of turmoil, be kind and help where you can. We are all in this together. All of us strange and funny lines are constantly creating an extraordinarily beautiful picture of the world.
Or as the Māori people would say:
He aha te mea nui o te ao
Maku e ki atu
He tangata, he tangata, he tangata
Ask me what is the most important thing in the world
And I will tell you
It is people, it is people, it is people
Have a wonderful day!
PS some of my thoughts got inspired by

Oh wow, I just finished Douglas Hofstadter’s “I am a Strange Loop” It took me a while to get through but it was well worth it. It’s probably one of the most insightful books I have ever read.
I thought for a while that when you are having a conversation with someone you are sharing parts of your unique world view with the other person. In a way, a blueprint of your ideas will then will live on in their mind and vice versa. By exchanging stories you will make the person and yourself a little bit more immortal because even after you die your stories will live on in the other person.
Hofstadter is describing a similar thing in his book. Each of us has their own strange loop that defines us. We also carry copies strange loops of other important people in our lives in us. When someone close to you dies, the copy of their strange loop is still in you and in other people.
Here is a video summing up the book
There is so much more wisdom in it. I can highly recommend reading it.
So many fascinating conversations at Ideas Anonymous #2 last night. It always really excites me to listen to all of the different perspectives. There was six of us which allowed really in depth discussions. Here are my notes. Here are some of the ideas we explored:
3 movies came up in conversations: Annihilation, The Game, In my Blood in runs
There were two plugs: Amruta’s Heckin’ Concerned Podcast and Warren’s Break Fest #6
My favourite quote of the night was: “You never know, if you don’t ask”
Ideas Anonymous #3 is On Wed, March 18th. You can sign up here: https://events.humanitix.com.au/ideasanonymous
Last night we had our first Ideas Anonymous, the place to discuss ideas. It was so much fun. I loved how open the group was and how different the ideas were. Some of the ideas we discussed were: a decentralised library of things, new ticket systems for events, new ways to engage with people in different suburbs, a washing machine that recycles water, a furniture subscription service, a new way to recycle clothes, a music album to raise money for charity events, a children’s book about animals in the city and a booklet on how to scale your business mindfully. Let me if you like to find out more about the ideas and I can put you in touch with the ideators.
Lots of feedback was given, ideas clarified and many connections made to propel the ideas forward.
The next Ideas Anonymous will be on March 4th. Sign up here to bounce around your ideas: https://events.humanitix.com.au/ideasanonymous
